A man has died following a work-place accident at an industrial unit in Co Cork in the early hours of Wednesday the 14 September 2016.
The 35-year-old man was found dead at Architectural & Metal Systems, an aluminium manufacturing plant in the Little Island area. He has been named as James Moore late of Bandon and Togher Road, married with two young children, a tragic loss indeed.
The unit was sealed off and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has begun an investigation.
A spokesman for the HSA said the man was found near machinery and died as a result of his injuries.
Gardaí have launched a separate probe.
A garda spokesman said: “A male has died as a result of an accident at and industrial premises at Little Island Co Cork.
The male (35 years) was pronounced dead at the scene and the scene has been preserved for a technical examination. HSA will also investigate. The incident occurred at approximately 1.30am on September 14.”
No further details of the accident are available at the moment, but as my good friend, and health and safety consultant, Ted Mellamphy says :” Safety is no accident”.
