When the Employment (Miscellaneous Provision) Act 2018 comes into operation on the 25 March 2019, employment contracts must ensure that contracts are for a certain number of hours of work greater than zero. This requirement will not apply in limited circumstances, such as genuine casual work, emergency circumstances or short-term relief work to cover routine absences.
